Casey Wilkins loves toy cars

Toy-car collector Casey Wilkins developed a passion for cars at a young age in the 1960s. His enjoys European styles favored by his father, as well as classic Chevys his grandparents used to own. As he got older and started a career that enabled him to add to his collection, his passion for midcentury cars has continued to grow.

Thomas Larsen makes banjos by hand

Craftsman Thomas Larsen, 28, started Blackberry Banjo Co. in 2009 and has made a dozen custom banjos in his basement workshop in American Fork.
“My favorite part is the hands-on experience,” he said. “I get to take pieces of wood and turn it into something that sounds good and makes somebody happy. It brings me joy to make it, and then it makes me happy when other people are playing them.”

We Love: Capturing the Canyons: Artists in the National Parks

Curator Ashlee Whitaker narrates a quick trip through BYU’s Museum of Art, where an art exhibit marks the centennial anniversary of the U.S. National Parks service. Paintings, prints, photographs and illustrations highlight the beauty of Utah’s five National Parks (Arches, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Zion), as well as Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and Yosemite.
